Πρώην πρόεδρος του Ιράν, Μαχμούντ Αχμαντινετζάντ, έχει τεθεί σε κατ’ οίκον περιορισμό από την υπηρεσία πληροφοριών των Φρουρών της Ισλαμικής Επανάστασης, αφού οι ιρανικές αρχές φέρονται να αποκάλυψαν εκτεταμένες επαφές του με το Ισραήλ και τη Μοσάντ, σύμφωνα με δημοσίευμα των New York Times, το οποίο επικαλείται τέσσερις ανώτερους Ιρανούς αξιωματούχους. Η έρευνα της αμερικανικής εφημερίδας αναφέρει ότι το Ισραήλ διεξήγαγε επί σειρά ετών μυστική επιχείρηση με στόχο τη στρατολόγηση του Αχμαντινετζάντ ως πηγής πληροφοριών. Πάντα σύμφωνα με ανώτερους Ιρανούς αξιωματούχους, ο πρώην πρόεδρος βρίσκεται πλέον υπό κράτηση από την υπηρεσία πληροφοριών των Φρουρών της Ισλαμικής Επανάστασης και τελεί σε κατ’ οίκον περιορισμό. Τόσο η Μοσάντ όσο και ο εκπρόσωπος του Αχμαντινετζάντ αρνήθηκαν να σχολιάσουν τις πληροφορίες της εφημερίδας. Ο πρώην σύμβουλος και στενός συνεργάτης του Αχμαντινετζάντ, Αμπντολρεζά Νταβαρί, υποστήριξε ότι ο πρώην πρόεδρος δεν θα συνεργαζόταν με το Ισραήλ για οικονομικό όφελος. «Έχει χρήματα και ένα ευρύ οικονομικό δίκτυο. Αν το έκανε, θα το έκανε για την εξουσία. Θέλει να βρίσκεται στην κορυφή της εξουσίας», δήλωσε ο Νταβαρί στους New York Times. Άλλος συνεργάτης του υποστήριξε ότι ο Αχμαντινετζάντ είχε εκφράσει την επιθυμία να αναδειχθεί νέος ηγέτης του Ιράν με τη στήριξη ξένων δυνάμεων, ενώ ανησυχούσε ότι ένας πόλεμος θα οδηγούσε τις Ηνωμένες Πολιτείες και το Ισραήλ να επιλέξουν μια διαφορετική προσωπικότητα για τη διακυβέρνηση της χώρας. Economic sentiment in Cyprus improved for the third consecutive month, rising marginally in June, on improved business and consumer confidence, according to the benchmark index compiled by the Economics Research Centre of the University of Cyprus. The June Economic Sentiment Indicator (ESI-CypERC) increased by 0.2 points to 100.8 points compared with 100.6 in May, driven by stronger business confidence in the retail trade and construction sectors, alongside further gains in consumer confidence.
