Ο Παγκόσμιος Οργανισμός Υγείας (ΠΟΥ) ανέφερε χθες Δευτέρα πως συνέστησε στη ΛΔ Κονγκό να λάβει μέτρα κοινωνικής αποστασιοποίησης, επιτήρησης και περιορισμών των μετακινήσεων, μπροστά στην εξάπλωση της επιδημίας του Έμπολα, που είναι πλέον η φονικότερη στην ιστορία της χώρας. Ο ΠΟΥ εισηγήθηκε ιδίως την αναβολή μεγάλων συγκεντρώσεων και να περιορίζεται σε μόνο έναν επιβάτη κάθε μετακίνηση με μοτοσικλέτα σε περιοχές όπου καταγράφεται μετάδοση του ιού. Η επιδημία, που κηρύχτηκε επίσημα τη 15η Μαΐου κι έχει εξαπλωθεί μέχρι τώρα σε έξι επαρχίες, έχει στοιχίσει ήδη τη ζωή σε πάνω από 2.500 ανθρώπους στη ΛΔ Κονγκό, ξεπερνώντας --μέσα σε μόλις τρεις μήνες-- εκείνη που μαινόταν από το 2018 ως το 2020 στο ανατολικό τμήμα της χώρας και θεωρείτο ως αυτήν η φονικότερη στην ιστορία της πελώριας αφρικανικής χώρας. Ο ΠΟΥ, η επιτροπή του οποίου για την αντιμετώπιση καταστάσεων έκτακτης ανάγκης συνεδρίασε την περασμένη εβδομάδα για να εξετάσει την πορεία της επιδημίας, δημοσιοποίησε χθες Δευτέρα το βράδυ προτάσεις που συντάχτηκαν από τον γενικό διευθυντή του, τον Τέντρος Αντανόμ Γκεμπρεέσους. Η ΛΔ Κονγκό καλείται να ενισχύσει τα μέσα που διαθέτει στον αγώνα κατά της επιδημίας, την επιτήρηση και τη διαχείριση, τον έλεγχο των μετακινήσεων και των δημόσιων συναθροίσεων, καθώς και την κινητοποίηση των κοινοτήτων και την προστασία του υγειονομικού προσωπικού. Ο ΠΟΥ υπέβαλε ακόμη νέα σειρά συστάσεων για «τα κοινωνικά μέτρα, τις συγκεντρώσεις και τις εσωτερικές μετακινήσεις». Προτείνει να αναβάλλονται οι μεγάλες συγκεντρώσεις ή συναθροίσεις σε περιοχές όπου καταγράφεται μετάδοση στην κοινότητα· τη μείωση των ανθρώπων που επιτρέπεται να εισέρχονται σε εστιατόρια, μπαρ και νυχτερινά κέντρα· και τον περιορισμό σε μόνο έναν αναβάτη κάθε μετακίνησης με μοτοσικλέτα. Ακόμη εισηγήθηκε μέτρα για να ανοίξουν με ασφάλεια ξανά τα σχολεία, να γίνονται οδικοί υγειονομικοί έλεγχοι 24 ώρες το 24ωρο και 7 ημέρες την εβδομάδα σε ζώνες όπου μεταδίδεται ο ιός και σε αυτές που θεωρούνται υψηλού κινδύνου για την εξάπλωσή του, καθώς και ενισχυμένη επιτήρηση των πλεούμενων που συνδέουν ζώνες που πλήττονται με μεγάλα αστικά κέντρα, πάνω απ’ όλα την πρωτεύουσα Κινσάσα. Πέρα από αυτά τα μέτρα, ο ΠΟΥ ζήτησε επίσης, για πρώτη φορά, η ΛΔ Κονγκό να διευκολύνει την ανάπτυξη διεθνών ομάδων υγειονομικών, καθώς και την εισαγωγή υλικού απαραίτητου για την αντίδραση στην επιδημία, ιδίως επιταχύνοντας τις διαδικασίες ελέγχου των υπηρεσιών μετανάστευσης και των τελωνείων. Ο οργανισμός συνέστησε ακόμη να ερευνάται κάθε θάνατος εκτός κέντρων θεραπείας, ώστε να εντοπίζονται επαφές, και να κατανοηθούν καλύτερα οι δισταγμοί κοινοτήτων να δεχθούν ασφαλείς και αξιοπρεπείς ενταφιασμούς. Κάλεσε να βαθύνουν οι έρευνες για τους τρόπους μετάδοσης του ιού, ιδίως αν γίνεται θεραπεία στο σπίτι ή από παραδοσιακούς θεραπευτές, καθώς και για το ενδεχόμενο επιζωοτίας. Δεν υπάρχει εμβόλιο, ούτε θεραπεία για το στέλεχος Μπουντιμπουγκιό του ιού, στο οποίο αποδίδεται η τρέχουσα επιδημία. Economic sentiment in Cyprus improved for the fourth consecutive month in July, on improved business confidence in the services and retail trade sectors, according to the benchmark index compiled by the Economics Research Centre of the University of Cyprus.
