Η μη εμφάνιση τριών μαρτύρων κατηγορίας αποτέλεσε τον λόγο για τον οποίον δεν ξεκίνησε σήμερα η ακροαματική διαδικασία ενώπιον του Επαρχιακού Δικαστηρίου Λευκωσίας στην υπόθεση εναντίον του Όζ Καραχάν και του Γιώργου Τάττη, όπως δήλωσε στο ΚΥΠΕ ο συνήγορος υπεράσπισης των δύο κατηγορουμένων, Ευστάθιος Κ. Ευσταθίου. Σύμφωνα με τον κ. Ευσταθίου, επρόκειτο για τρεις αστυνομικούς, οι οποίοι καταγράφονται ως μάρτυρες κατηγορίας 3, 4 και 5 στο κατηγορητήριο. Όπως ανέφερε, οι μάρτυρες δεν εμφανίστηκαν στο δικαστήριο, χωρίς να δοθούν εξηγήσεις από την Κατηγορούσα Αρχή. Ο κ. Ευσταθίου έκανε λόγο για επαναλαμβανόμενες αναβολές στην υπόθεση, η οποία ξεκίνησε το 2024, σημειώνοντας ότι η μη παρουσία των μαρτύρων κατηγορίας δημιουργεί σοβαρά ζητήματα ως προς την πορεία της διαδικασίας. Το αδίκημά τους; Όχι η βία, όχι η υποκίνηση μίσους, αλλά η ανάρτηση ενός πανό και η δημόσια έκφραση μιας πολιτικής θέσης», ανέφερε, σημειώνοντας ότι "εγείρονται ζητήματα ελευθερίας έκφρασης". Από την πλευρά τους, οι δύο κατηγορούμενοι, Γιώργος Τάττης και Όζ Καραχάν, σε κοινή δήλωσή τους στο ΚΥΠΕ, έκαναν λόγο για συνεχιζόμενη ταλαιπωρία λόγω των αναβολών και της μη παρουσίας μαρτύρων κατηγορίας. «Γι’ άλλη μια φορά, μας προκαλεί έντονο προβληματισμό η συνεχιζόμενη αναβολή της εκδίκασης της υπόθεσής μας. Ενώ το Δικαστήριο κλήτευσε τους μάρτυρες κατηγορίας, οι οποίοι προφανώς είναι τα μέλη της Αστυνομίας που μας συνέλαβαν, εντούτοις δεν ήρθε κανείς», ανέφεραν. Διερωτήθηκαν «γιατί εμείς πρέπει να καθορίζουμε το πρόγραμμά μας με βάση τις ορισμένες δίκες, ενώ αυτοί που μας σέρνουν σε μια παράνομη και άδικη δίκη να μην παρευρίσκονται, χωρίς καμία συνέπεια», κάνοντας λόγο για παραβίαση δικαιωμάτων. Υπενθυμίζεται ότι οι δύο κατηγορούμενοι είχαν συλληφθεί κατά τη διάρκεια της στρατιωτικής παρέλασης της 1ης Οκτωβρίου το 2024, όταν προσπάθησαν να αναρτήσουν πανό απέναντι από την εξέδρα των επισήμων στην Λεωφόρο Ιωσήφ Χατζηιωσήφ, στη Λευκωσία. Η υπόθεση ορίστηκε εκ νέου για τις 16 Νοεμβρίου 2026 στις 10:30 το πρωί, ενώπιον του Επαρχιακού Δικαστηρίου Λευκωσίας.
