Για λόγους ασφάλειας των κατοίκων της κοινότητας Μαρί οι προ πολλού κυβερνητικές αποφάσεις κατέληξαν στη μεταστέγαση των εκτοπισμένων που διαμένουν ή κάνουν χρήση τ/κ κατοικιών και υποστατικών στην κοινότητα Μαρί να μεταστεγαστούν κρατική μέριμνα σε ασφαλέστερη περιοχή στο Ζύγι, δήλωσε στο ΚΥΠΕ, ο Έπαρχος Λάρνακας, Οδυσσέας Χατζηστεφάνου, σε τοποθέτηση επί της διαμαρτυρίας των κατοίκων, οι οποίοι προσφάτως έλαβαν επιστολές με τις οποίες τους ζητείται να παραδώσουν είτε τις τ/κ κατοικίες/υποστατικά, είτε κρατικούς οικίσκους που έχουν ανεγερθεί μονήρεις ηλικιωμένους κατοίκους του Μαρί, στο Ζύγι. Απαντώντας σε ερώτηση του ΚΥΠΕ για το θέμα ο Έπαρχος εξήγησε ότι σε σχέση με την μεταστέγαση των κατόχων τ/κ υποστατικών, κατά τα τελευταία 30 χρόνια λήφθηκαν αποφάσεις από τα εκάστοτε Υπουργικά Συμβούλια και έχουν προσφερθεί στους εκτοπισμένους διάφορα σχέδια μεταστέγασης, καθώς οι αποφάσεις ήταν πως για λόγους ασφάλειας οι κάτοικοι που διέμεναν σε τ/κ κατοικίες στο Μαρί έπρεπε να μετακινηθούν. «Το Μαρί συγκαταλέγεται στις επικίνδυνες περιοχές για κατοίκηση, καθώς γειτνιάζει με το ενεργειακό κέντρο και έχουν μετακινηθεί στην περιοχή αυτή από την Λάρνακα οι εταιρείες πετρελαιοειδών, βρίσκεται το τσιμεντοποιείο και υποδομές της ΑΗΚ», είπε. Σημείωσε ότι ο κίνδυνος έγινε απτός με την έκρηξη των πυρομαχικών, στο Μαρί, από την οποία υπέστησαν ζημιές κάποια σπίτια, ευτυχώς χωρίς θύματα εκ των κατοίκων, τονίζοντας ότι απώτερος στόχος είναι οι τ/κ κατοικίες στο Μαρί να κενωθούν συν τω χρόνω. Στο πλαίσιο αυτών των αποφάσεων και προς εφαρμογή της μετεγκατάστασης, πρόσθεσε ο κ. Χατζηστεφάνου, δόθηκαν οικόπεδα και αυξημένη οικονομική βοήθεια σε όσους διέμεναν νόμιμα στα τ/κ υποστατικά και οικίες, προκειμένου να ανεγείρουν κατοικία, είπε σημειώνοντας ότι το κόστος ανέγερσης κατοικίας, όπως και η ηλικία των δικαιούχων ήταν σε εφικτό επίπεδο προκειμένου να ανεγερθεί η κατοικία και να μεταστεγαστεί ο δικαιούχος. Πρόσθεσε ότι κάποιοι εξ’ αυτών, ανέγειραν νέα κατοικία και αντί να μεταστεγαστούν σε αυτή οι ίδιοι, συνέχισαν να διαμένουν στην τ/κ κατοικία και στεγάστηκαν στη νέα κατοικία τα παιδιά τους. Σε ό,τι αφορά τους οικίσκους που ανεγέρθηκαν από την Πολεοδομία, είπε ότι ήταν πολύ μικροί και είχαν δοθεί κυρίως σε υπερήλικες, υπό την προϋπόθεση ότι θα εκκένωναν την τ/κ κατοικία στο Μαρί. Εξήγησε ότι είναι κρατικοί και δεν θα δινόταν τίτλος ιδιοκτησίας στους δικαιούχους και συνεπώς δεν μπορούν να κληροδοτηθούν. Συνεχίζοντας ο Έπαρχος Λάρνακας είπε πως η παρούσα Κυβέρνηση με τελευταία απόφαση και προκειμένου το θέμα να κλείσει οριστικά και προς όφελος αυτών που συνέχιζαν να διαμένουν στο Μαρί, τους έδωσε διάφορες επιλογές και τους τελευταίους, δύο τρεις μήνες στάλθηκαν σχετικές επιστολές που αφορούν από 10 μέχρι 15 περιπτώσεις. Οι επιλογές ήταν να έπαιρναν υψηλή οικονομική βοήθεια για να αναγείρουν κατοικία στο οικόπεδο που τους είχε παραχωρηθεί και εάν δεν επέλεγαν αυτή την πρόταση να διατηρήσουν το δικαίωμα παραμονής στην τ/κ κατοικία στο Μαρί, μέχρι το τέλος της ζωής τους, αλλά ταυτόχρονα να επιστρέψουν το οικόπεδο, εξήγησε. Πρόσθεσε ότι άλλη επιλογή που προσφέρθηκε σε αυτούς που ανέγειραν την κατοικία στο οικόπεδο και παραχώρησαν τη νέα κατοικία στα παιδιά τους, συνεχίζοντας οι ίδιοι να παραμένουν στην τ/κ κατοικία, είναι να συνεχίσουν να παραμένουν στην τ/κ κατοικία, αλλά τα παιδιά που κατέχουν την ανεγερθείσα κατοικία να αποποιηθούν από όποιο άλλο δικαίωμα οικονομικής στήριξης για στέγαση εκτοπισμένων. Αναφέρθηκε επίσης σε περιπτώσεις στις οποίες άρχισε η ανέγερση της κατοικίας, αλλά παραμένει ημιτελής, στους οποίους, όπως είπε προσφέρθηκε η επιλογή να πάρουν υψηλή οικονομική βοήθεια για να ολοκληρώσουν την ανέγερση της νέας κατοικίας και να μετακινηθούν σε αυτή ή να παραδώσουν το οικόπεδο με το όποιο ημιτελές κτίσμα και να συνεχίσουν να μένουν στην τ/κ κατοικία. Η αντίδραση των παραληπτών των επιστολών, ήταν ότι θέλουν και τα οικόπεδα είτε αυτά αξιοποιήθηκαν, είτε όχι και να συνεχίσουν να διαμένουν στις τ/κ κατοικίες στο Μαρί. Αυτή η απαίτηση, εξήγησε ο Έπαρχος Λάρνακας, «δεν μπορεί να ικανοποιηθεί καθώς υπάρχουν οι αποφάσεις του Υπουργικού Συμβουλίου και επειδή η ικανοποίηση αυτής της απαίτησης θα ήταν άδικη, αφού υπάρχει πολύς κόσμος χαμηλού εισοδήματος που δεν έχει στέγη, ενώ υπάρχουν οικόπεδα που δεν αξιοποιήθηκαν, είναι κενά και μπορούν να αξιοποιηθούν για τη στέγαση τέτοιων οικογενειών». Σημείωσε περαιτέρω ότι αυτοί που πήραν τα οικόπεδα και την οικονομική βοήθεια γνώριζαν από την αρχή ότι το περιθώριο περάτωσης της νέας κατοικίας ήταν συγκεκριμένο και αν δεν ολοκλήρωναν την κατοικία θα επέστρεφαν το οικόπεδο. Απαντώντας σε ερώτηση είπε ότι θα εκδιωχθούν από τα τ/κ υποστατικά όσοι τα κατέχουν παράνομα, σημειώνοντας ότι οι προτάσεις αφορούν τους αρχικά νόμιμους κατόχους των υποστατικών αυτών. Πηγή: ΚΥΠΕ
Μια νέα υποθαλάσσια καλωδιακή σύνδεση Διαδικτύου μεταξύ της Κυπριακής Δημοκρατίας και της Συρίας αναμένεται να τεθεί σε λειτουργία στις αρχές του 2028, ενισχύοντας σημαντικά τις τηλεπικοινωνιακές υποδομές και τη συνδεσιμότητα στην Ανατολική Μεσόγειο. Το νέο καλώδιο, με την ονομασία Ugarit 2, αναπτύσσεται από την UNIFI Communications, την Αρχή Τηλεπικοινωνιών Κύπρου (Cyta) και τον Syrian Telecommunications Establishment. Σύμφωνα με την κοινή ανακοίνωση που δημοσιεύει το Data Center Dynamics (DCD), το σύστημα θα διαθέτει 24 ζεύγη οπτικών ινών και αρχική χωρητικότητα 31 Tbps, ενώ η συνολική σχεδιαστική του δυνατότητα θα μπορεί μελλοντικά να φθάσει τα 370 Tbps. Αντικαθιστά το καλώδιο του 1995 Το Ugarit 2 πρόκειται να αντικαταστήσει το υφιστάμενο Ugarit, το οποίο λειτουργεί από το 1995 και αποτελεί εδώ και περισσότερα από 30 χρόνια βασική τηλεπικοινωνιακή σύνδεση της Συρίας με την Κύπρο. Το παλαιό σύστημα εκτείνεται σε περίπου 239 χιλιόμετρα, συνδέοντας το σημείο προσαιγιάλωσης στον Πεντάσχοινο της Κύπρου με την Ταρτούς της Συρίας, και διαθέτει χωρητικότητα μόλις 622 Mbps. Το Ugarit 2 αναμένεται να ακολουθήσει παρόμοια διαδρομή, αλλά με τεράστια αύξηση της δυνατότητας μεταφοράς δεδομένων. Ο ιδρυτής και διευθύνων σύμβουλος της UNIFI Communications, Adrian Shatku, χαρακτήρισε το έργο ως την πρώτη μεγάλη διεθνή συμφωνία υποδομών της Συρίας μετά την περίοδο των κυρώσεων, υποστηρίζοντας ότι επαναφέρει μια χώρα περίπου 20 εκατομμυρίων κατοίκων στον χάρτη των παγκόσμιων διαδικτυακών διασυνδέσεων. Όπως ανέφερε, το νέο σύστημα θα παραδοθεί από αμερικανικό κύριο ανάδοχο, ο οποίος θα κατέχει ποσοστό 5% του έργου, στη βάση σχετικής άδειας του αμερικανικού Υπουργείου Οικονομικών. Economic sentiment in Cyprus improved for the fourth consecutive month in July, on improved business confidence in the services and retail trade sectors, according to the benchmark index compiled by the Economics Research Centre of the University of Cyprus.
