Ο Βρετανός πρωθυπουργός Κιρ Στάρμερ προσπάθησε να απαντήσει σήμερα στην εξέγερση που διαφαίνεται να μεγαλώνει στο Εργατικό κόμμα, υποσχόμενος να αποδείξει σε όσους τον αμφισβητούν ότι έχουν άδικο και να παραμείνει στην πρωθυπουργία προκειμένου να μη βυθιστεί η χώρα σε νέα πολιτική κρίση. Ολοένα και περισσότεροι βουλευτές των Εργατικών έχουν στραφεί κατά του Στάρμερ, αφού το κόμμα κατέγραψε στις τοπικές εκλογές της Πέμπτης το χειρότερο αποτέλεσμα εδώ και περισσότερες από τρεις δεκαετίες. Ήδη η πρώην υπουργός και νυν βουλευτής Κάθριν Γουέστ ανακοίνωσε το Σαββατοκύριακο ότι, αν το υπουργικό συμβούλιο δεν καταφέρει να συμφωνήσει σε έναν αντικαταστάτη του Στάρμερ, τότε θα κινηθεί η ίδια για να προκαλέσει εσωτερικές εκλογές για να βρεθεί διάδοχος. Η διεύρυνση της ΕΕ είναι στο επίκεντρο της δεύτερης συνεδρίας των Υπουργών Ευρωπαϊκών Υποθέσεων της ΕΕ που βρίσκονται σήμερα στη Λευκωσία στο πλαίσιο της Κυπριακής Προεδρίας του Συμβουλίου της ΕΕ. Η συνεδρία γίνεται με τη συμμετοχή εκπροσώπων υποψήφιων υπό ένταξη χωρών - Μαυροβούνιο, Ουκρανία, Μολδαβία, Βόρεια Μακεδονία και το Κόσοβο ως δυνάμει υποψήφιο μέλος. Προσερχόμενοι στο συνεδριακό κέντρο Φιλοξενία, όπου πραγματοποιείται η Άτυπη Σύνοδος, οι εκπρόσωποι των χωρών μίλησαν για την σημασία της διεύρυνσης της ΕΕ και την πρόοδο από την πλευρά τους στην ολοκλήρωση των προϋποθέσεων ένταξης. The annual growth rate of a leading indicator in Cyprus used to predict the future direction of economic movements, saw a mild increase in November, but continued on a similar trend from the previous months, the University of Cyprus said in a report.
