Η Κυβέρνηση εργάζεται εντατικά για την ενίσχυση της ανταγωνιστικότητας και τον εκσυγχρονισμό του πρωτογενούς τομέα, ανέφερε την Κυριακή η Υπουργός Γεωργίας, Αγροτικής Ανάπτυξης και Περιβάλλοντος, δρ Μαρία Παναγιώτου, σε χαιρετισμό της στο 3ο Φεστιβάλ Λουκουμιού, στο Φοινί. «Ο τομέας της μεταποίησης γεωργικών προϊόντων σε επίπεδο οικοτεχνίας αποτελεί σημαντικό κομμάτι της ιστορίας μας, συμβάλλοντας τα μέγιστα τόσο οικονομικά όσο και κοινωνικά στην ανάπτυξη της χώρας μας διαχρονικά», επεσήμανε η κ. Παναγιώτου. Επιπρόσθετα, σημείωσε ότι η προστασία των ποιοτικών γεωργικών προϊόντων της Κύπρου είναι καίριας σημασίας. «Αυτός είναι και ο λόγος που το Υπουργείο μας, ακολουθώντας πιστά την πολιτική της ΕΕ, δίνει μεγάλη σημασία στην προστασία της ονομασίας συγκεκριμένων προϊόντων με σκοπό την προβολή των μοναδικών τους χαρακτηριστικών, τα οποία συνδέονται με τη γεωγραφική τους προέλευση και την παραδοσιακή τεχνογνωσία των κατοίκων της υπαίθρου», συμπλήρωσε. «Σήμερα, στον κατάλογο των Γεωγραφικών Ενδείξεων της ΕΕ, περιλαμβάνονται σημαντικά αυθεντικά προϊόντα ποιότητας του τόπου μας. Προϊόντα όπως το Χαλλούμι ΠΟΠ (προστατευόμενης ονομασίας προέλευσης) αλλά και τα προϊόντα Προστατευόμενης Γεωγραφικής Ενδείξεις ΠΓΕ, όπως το Λουκάνικο, η Λούντζα και το Χοιρομέρι Πιτσιλιάς κατέχουν αξιοζήλευτη θέση στο Μητρώο της ΕΕ», τόνισε η Υπουργός Γεωργίας. «Πρόκειται για μια σημαντική επιτυχία που οφείλεται κυρίως στους ίδιους τους παραγωγούς μας, οι οποίοι διατηρούν αναλλοίωτες τις παραδοσιακές μεθόδους παραγωγής επί δεκαετίες, καθώς και στα ιδιαίτερα εδαφοκλιματικά χαρακτηριστικά της Κύπρου», είπε, εκφράζοντας την ελπίδα ότι θα ακολουθήσει η υποβολή και νέων φακέλων για την κατοχύρωση παραδοσιακών προϊόντων των ορεινών περιοχών ως ΠΟΠ και ΠΓΕ, και ότι το φοινιώτικο λουκούμι θα είναι ένα από αυτά. «Η Εθνική Στρατηγική Ανάπτυξης των Ορεινών Περιοχών περιλαμβάνει περίπου 250 δράσεις, που υλοποιούνται σταδιακά με ορίζοντα μέχρι το 2030. Πρόκειται για δράσεις που αφορούν σε αναβάθμιση των υποδομών, τη βελτίωση της ποιότητας ζωής των κατοίκων, τη δημιουργία νέων ευκαιριών απασχόλησης και ενίσχυση της τοπικής οικονομίας», ανέφερε η Μαρία Παναγιώτου. Την ίδια ώρα, επεσήμανε ότι «η Κυβέρνηση εργάζεται εντατικά για την ενίσχυση της ανταγωνιστικότητας και τον εκσυγχρονισμό του πρωτογενούς τομέα, καθώς και για την προώθηση της μεταποίησης και της αξιοποίησης των γεωργικών προϊόντων από τους ίδιους τους παραγωγούς». Πρόσθεσε ότι «αδιαπραγμάτευτο στόχο του Υπουργείου Γεωργίας, Αγροτικής Ανάπτυξης και Περιβάλλοντος αποτελεί η αναζωογόνηση του πληθυσμού της υπαίθρου, αλλά και η εξασφάλιση ενός δίκαιου και βιώσιμου εισοδήματος για τον παραγωγό, η διασφάλιση της ποιότητας των τροφίμων, καθώς και η στήριξη της ηλικιακής ανανέωσης του αγροτικού τομέα». Η Υπουργός Γεωργίας υπογράμμισε ότι το Υπουργείο τα τελευταία χρόνια προχώρησε στην επικαιροποίηση της Στρατηγικής για τον Πρωτογενή Τομέα, δημιούργησε το Γραφείο Γεωργού σε κάθε επαρχία, ενίσχυσε τα κίνητρα για επενδύσεις στις ορεινές περιοχές και ενέταξε στα επενδυτικά σχέδια όλες τις κοινότητες της Εθνικής Στρατηγικής Ανάπτυξης των Ορεινών Περιοχών. «Για πρώτη φορά προχωρήσαμε σε ειδικό σχέδιο ύψους €5,2 εκατομμυρίων για την επαναφορά εγκαταλελειμμένων εκτάσεων στην παραγωγή μέσω ξηρικών καλλιεργειών και αμπελώνων. Γιατί η καλλιεργημένη γη δεν αποτελεί μόνο εργαλείο παραγωγής», σημείωσε, προσθέτοντας ότι «αξιοποιούμε αποτελεσματικά το Στρατηγικό Σχέδιο της Κοινής Αγροτικής Πολιτικής, το οποίο αποτελεί και το βασικό εργαλείο χρηματοδότησης του πρωτογενούς τομέα, με προϋπολογισμό ύψους 454 εκατ. ευρώ». «Μάλιστα, μέσα από ευρύ κύκλο διαβουλεύσεων, προχωρήσαμε σε ουσιαστικές παρεμβάσεις, ενισχύοντας το επενδυτικό μέτρο και την πρώτη εγκατάσταση νέων γεωργών, με συνολικό προϋπολογισμό 67,5 εκατ. ευρώ. Πρόκειται για ένα ουσιαστικό επενδυτικό μέτρο, με τις ενισχύσεις να φτάνουν έως και τις 800.000 ευρώ ανά εκμετάλλευση», είπε η Μαρία Παναγιώτου, επισημαίνοντας ότι €7,5 εκατομμύρια από το ποσό αυτό διατίθενται αποκλειστικά για την πρώτη εγκατάσταση νέων γεωργών. «Απέναντι σε προκλήσεις όπως τα ακραία καιρικά φαινόμενα και οι θεομηνίες, η στήριξη προς τον αγροτικό κόσμο είναι έμπρακτη, ουσιαστική αλλά και συνεχής», τόνισε η Υπουργός Γεωργίας, αναφέροντας ενδεικτικά ότι για πρώτη φορά ενεργοποιήθηκε ειδικό Μέτρο για την ανομβρία με ενίσχυση 10,2 εκατ. ευρώ για το έτος 2025, ενώ, μέσω του ταμείου προστασίας και ασφάλισης γεωργικής παραγωγής παραχωρήθηκαν άλλα 31,5 εκατ. ευρώ, ανεβάζοντας το συνολικό ύψος στήριξης σε 41,7 εκατ. ευρώ για ζημιές σε γεωργούς που πλήγηκαν από την ανομβρία κατά τα έτη 2024 και 2025. Η κ. Η Κεντρική Επιτροπή της ΕΔΕΚ, που συνεδρίασε την Κυριακή, ομόφωνα δεν έκανε αποδεκτή την παραίτηση του Προέδρου της ΕΔΕΚ, Νίκου Αναστασίου, την οποία ο κ. Αναστασίου είχε θέσει στη διάθεση του συλλογικού οργάνου της ΕΔΕΚ. Παράλληλα, έλαβε την απόφαση για την πραγματοποίηση Τακτικού Ιδεολογικο – Πολιτικού και Εκλογικού Συνεδρίου του κόμματος εντός Νοεμβρίου. Σύμφωνα με ανακοίνωση της ΕΔΕΚ, η Κεντρική Επιτροπή, κατά τη συνεδρίασή της, συζήτησε σε βάθος το αποτέλεσμα των βουλευτικών εκλογών της 24ης Μαΐου και αποφάσισε την πραγματοποίηση Τακτικού Ιδεολογικο – Πολιτικού και Εκλογικού Συνεδρίου της ΕΔΕΚ εντός του ερχομένου Νοεμβρίου.
