Για ακόμη οκτώ ημέρες θα παραμείνουν υπό κράτηση οι τρεις ύποπτοι που συνελήφθησαν στις 28 Αυγούστου σε Λάρνακα και Αμμόχωστο, στο πλαίσιο διερεύνησης υπόθεσης συνωμοσίας για φόνο και συμμετοχής σε εγκληματική οργάνωση. Οι συλλήψεις έγιναν μετά από πληροφορίες μέσω Europol για σχεδιαζόμενες δολοφονίες στην Κύπρο έναντι αμοιβής, σε συντονισμό με τις Αρχές της Δανίας. Οι τρεις ύποπτοι παρουσιάστηκαν εκ νέου ενώπιον του Επαρχιακού Δικαστηρίου Αμμοχώστου, το οποίο συνεδρίασε στη Λάρνακα και αποφάσισε την ανανέωση του διατάγματος κράτησης των τριών υπόπτων για περίοδο οκτώ ημερών. Στη σύλληψη των τριών προσώπων στο πλαίσιο διερεύνησης σοβαρής υπόθεσης που αφορά συνωμοσία για φόνο και συμμετοχή σε εγκληματική οργάνωση είχε οδηγήσει η άμεση κινητοποίηση της Αστυνομίας Κύπρου, σε συνεργασία με τις Αρχές της Δανίας και τη Europol. Οπως είχε ανακοινώσει η Αστυνομία, «μετά τη λήψη πληροφοριών μέσω Europol για σχεδιαζόμενες δολοφονίες στην Κύπρο έναντι αμοιβής, η Αστυνομία Κύπρου ενεργοποίησε αμέσως επιχειρησιακό σχεδιασμό, σε συνεργασία με κλιμάκιο της Αστυνομίας της Δανίας». Economic sentiment in Cyprus improved for the fourth consecutive month in July, on improved business confidence in the services and retail trade sectors, according to the benchmark index compiled by the Economics Research Centre of the University of Cyprus.
