Το Ιράν ανακοίνωσε χθες Τετάρτη ότι επιτέθηκε σε πάνω από δέκα πλοία που αποπειρώνταν να διασχίσουν το στενό του Ορμούζ, προκαλώντας αναπήδηση των τιμών του πετρελαίου, κι ανήγγειλε ότι προσεχώς θα επεκτείνει, πέρα από το θαλάσσιο πέρασμα στρατηγικής σημασίας, τον τομέα στον οποίο θα απαιτεί να ζητείται άδεια από τα πλοία για να περάσουν. Η Τεχεράνη δικαιολόγησε τις επιθέσεις αυτές κάνοντας λόγο περί αντιποίνων στους αμερικανούς βομβαρδισμούς της Τρίτης εναντίον πέντε ιρανικών πετρελαιοφόρων δεξαμενόπλοιων και προειδοποίησε εκ νέου τον εχθρό της. «Οι επιθέσεις των ΗΠΑ εναντίον ιρανικών εμπορικών πλοίων (...) αποτελούν (...) προφανή απειλή για την περιφερειακή και διεθνή ειρήνη και ασφάλεια», τόνισε το υπουργείο Εξωτερικών, επικαλούμενο το δικαίωμα στη «νόμιμη άμυνα». Οι Φρουροί της Επανάστασης, ισχυρό στρατιωτικό σώμα του Ιράν, ανέφεραν πως στοχοποίησαν στην περιοχή του Κόλπου δυο αμερικανικά πολεμικά, οκτώ πετρελαιοφόρα και άλλα δέκα εμπορικά πλοία που προσπαθούσαν να περάσουν το στενό του Ορμούζ, το οποίο έκλεισε de facto η Τεχεράνη όταν ξέσπασε ο πόλεμος στη Μέση Ανατολή, με τους αμερικανοϊσραηλινούς βομβαρδισμούς εναντίον της Ισλαμικής Δημοκρατίας την 28η Φεβρουαρίου. Η βρετανική υπηρεσία ενημέρωσης για την ασφάλεια της ναυτιλίας UKMTO, που υπάγεται στο υπουργείο Άμυνας, αναφέρθηκε σε πλοία στις φλόγες σε διάφορα σημεία, χωρίς να ξεκαθαρίσει αν υπήρξαν θύματα ή περιβαλλοντικές επιπτώσεις. Χθες βράδυ, η ιρανική κρατική τηλεόραση αναφέρθηκε σε έκρηξη, τις αιτίες της οποίας δεν εξήγησε, στο νότιο τμήμα της χώρας, κοντά στο στενό. «Νέα κλιμάκωση» Για τους παράγοντες της αγοράς του μαύρου χρυσού, πρόκειται για «νέα κλιμάκωση», σημείωσε ο Άρνε Λόμαν Ράσμουσεν, αναλυτής της Global Risk Management. Η Τεχεράνη ανήγγειλε την Κυριακή τη δημιουργία, εντός «μερικών ημερών», νέας «απαγορευμένης ζώνης» κοντά στη θαλάσσια οδό. Οι Φρουροί διευκρίνισαν χθες πως θα εκτείνεται σε μέρος του Κόλπου του Ομάν και της Αραβικής θάλασσας. Οποιοδήποτε πλοίο εισέρχεται στη ζώνη χωρίς άδεια θα εκτίθεται σε κυρώσεις, διεμήνυσαν. Από την άλλη, ο αμερικανικός στρατός επιβάλλει αποκλεισμό στα λιμάνια του Ιράν στον Κόλπο, σε αντίποινα για το κλείσιμο του Ορμούζ. Αφότου ξέσπασε ο πόλεμος, η κίνηση έχει σχεδόν παραλύσει στη στρατηγικής σημασίας θαλάσσια οδό, προκαλώντας μεγάλα προβλήματα στις διεθνείς αγορές ενέργειας και εκτινάσσοντας συχνά στα ύψη τις τιμές του αργού. Χθες η τιμή του βαρελιού του Μπρεντ Βόρειας Θάλασσας κατέγραψε άλμα 3,4% στα 101,21 δολάρια, ξεπερνώντας το συμβολικό όριο των 100 δολαρίων για πρώτη φορά από τον Ιούλιο. Η τιμή της αντίστοιχης αμερικανικής ποικιλίας West Texas Intermediate σημείωσε επίσης αλματώδη άνοδο (3,25%), στα 96,05 δολάρια. Αξιώσεις Έξι και πλέον μήνες μετά το ξέσπασμα του πολέμου, ο αμερικανός πρόεδρος Ντόναλντ Τραμπ προέβλεψε χθες πως θα τελειώσει «αμέσως μετά» τις βουλευτικές εκλογές του μέσου της δεύτερης θητείας του, στις αρχές Νοεμβρίου. Οι Ιρανοί, οι οποίοι «δεν μπορούν να αντέξουν για πολύ ακόμα», προσπαθούν «απεγνωσμένα» να επηρεάσουν την έκβαση των εκλογών στις ΗΠΑ, υποστήριξε ο ρεπουμπλικάνος. Μερικές ώρες νωρίτερα, οι Φρουροί της Επανάστασης τόνιζαν ότι ο πόλεμος θα τελειώσει όταν η Ουάσιγκτον σταματήσει να απειλεί το Ιράν κι αποδεχτεί βασικές απαιτήσεις του. Απαρίθμησαν: να «απέχει από οποιαδήποτε νέα απειλή», να «αποσύρει τις δυνάμεις του ισραηλινού στρατού από τον Λίβανο», να «βάλει τέλος στον αποκλεισμό της Υεμένης», να «αποδεσμεύσει τους παγωμένους ιρανικούς πόρους (αξίας) 24 δισεκατομμυρίων δολαρίων» και να «αποφύγει οποιαδήποτε ανάμιξη στις πυρηνικές και βαλλιστικές δυνατότητες» της χώρας. Ο ισραηλινός πρωθυπουργός Μπενιαμίν Νετανιάχου, ο στρατός του οποίου συμμετείχε στην πρώτη φάση του πολέμου από τα τέλη Φεβρουαρίου, διαβεβαίωσε χθες πως η Ισλαμική Δημοκρατία βρίσκεται στα πρόθυρα κατάρρευσης. «Μένει ακόμη δουλειά να γίνει», πάντως «το κύριο καθήκον είναι να ανατραπεί το τρομοκρατικό καθεστώς στο Ιράν» και «είμαστε πολύ κοντά» στην εκπλήρωση του στόχου αυτού, δήλωσε -- λίγες εβδομάδες πριν από τις κρίσιμες για τη δική του πολιτική επιβίωση βουλευτικές εκλογές στο Ισραήλ. Ενώ το ζήτημα του ιρανικού προγράμματος πυρηνικής ενέργειας πυροδοτεί για δεκαετίες εντάσεις ανάμεσα στο Ιράν και τη Δύση, το αμερικανικό Κέντρο Στρατηγικών και Διεθνών Μελετών (CSIS) ανέφερε πως εντείνονται οι κατασκευαστικές εργασίες τον τελευταίο χρόνο στο όρος Κολάνγκ, στο κεντρικό τμήμα της ιρανικής επικράτειας, όπου οι ΗΠΑ υποπτεύονται ότι θα φιλοξενηθεί υπόγεια πυρηνική εγκατάσταση -- ο πρόεδρος Τραμπ έχει απειλήσει πως μπορεί να βομβαρδιστεί το όρος το προσεχές διάστημα. Χθες, το διοικητικό συμβούλιο του Διεθνούς Οργανισμού Ατομικής Ενέργειας (ΔΟΑΕ) ψήφισε υπέρ της παραπομπής του ιρανικού φακέλου στο Συμβούλιο Ασφαλείας του ΟΗΕ, εξαιτίας της «αθέτησης» υποχρεώσεων της Τεχεράνης. Η καταρχήν συμφωνία --το λεγόμενο μνημόνιο κατανόησης-- που υπέγραψαν οι πρόεδροι των ΗΠΑ και του Ιράν στα μέσα Ιουνίου και στη θεωρία άνοιγε τον δρόμο για να τερματιστεί ο πόλεμος έγινε χίλια κομμάτια τον Ιούλιο. Έντονη ήταν η παρουσία και δράση της Αστυνομίας το βράδυ που πέρασε, ανά το παγκύπριο, με τη διενέργεια οργανωμένων περιπολιών σε καίρια σημεία αστικών περιοχών, με στόχο την πρόληψη σοβαρών εγκληματικών ενεργειών, τη διασφάλιση της δημόσιας τάξης και την αύξηση του αισθήματος ασφάλειας του κοινού. Αποτέλεσμα των προληπτικών αστυνομικών επιχειρήσεων ήταν η σύλληψη τεσσάρων προσώπων για διάφορα αδικήματα όπως, κλοπή αυτοκινήτου και ανυπακοή σε διαταγές Δικαστηρίου. Στο πλαίσιο των επιχειρήσεων αυτών, κατά τη διάρκεια της νύχτας, ανακόπηκαν για έλεγχο 428 οχήματα και ελέγχθηκαν 565 πρόσωπα που επέβαιναν σε αυτά. Παράλληλα, διενεργήθηκαν 37 έλεγχοι σε υποστατικά με στόχο την αντιμετώπιση φαινομένων παραβατικότητας, κατά τους οποίους προέκυψαν 4 καταγγελίες. Κατά τη διάρκεια τροχονομικών ελέγχων που διενεργήθηκαν, έγιναν 337 καταγγελίες, που αφορούσαν διάφορες παραβάσεις τροχαίας, ενώ προέκυψαν και 12 διερευνώμενες υποθέσεις παραβάσεων τροχαίας.

DBRS Ratings GmbH (Morningstar DBRS) has changed the trend on both the Republic of Cyprus’ long-term and short-term foreign and local currency issuer ratings to ‘positive’ from ‘stable’ on the view that Cyprus will maintain its strong fiscal position and continue reducing its public debt burden. Morningstar DBRS also confirmed the long-term credit ratings at “A” and the short-term ratings at R-1 (low).
