Η επιβάρυνση του οδικού δικτύου στη δυτική Λευκωσία λόγω μεγάλων αναπτύξεων και οι σοβαρές συνέπειες στην ποιότητα ζωής των κατοίκων τέθηκαν την Πέμπτη ενώπιον της Κοινοβουλευτικής Επιτροπής Μεταφορών, με εισήγηση της Βουλευτού του Κινήματος Άλμα, Ειρήνης Χαραλαμπίδου, η οποία ήγειρε ζήτημα για το πως δόθηκαν οι άδειες και εάν μελετήθηκαν οι επιπτώσεις στο οδικό δίκτυο, με την ανάπτυξη ξενοδοχείου, νοσοκομείου και πολυώροφων κτιρίων στην περιοχή. Την ανησυχία των κατοίκων της περιοχής εξέφρασε ενώπιον της Επιτροπής η Λουίζα Μαυρομάτη, εκ μέρους της Πρωτοβουλίας για Ανθρώπινη Έγκωμη, κάνοντας ιδιαίτερη αναφορά στην ήδη επιβαρυμένη εικόνα των δρόμων γύρω από την περιοχή του μετοχίου της Μονής Κύκκου. Ανησυχία εκφράστηκε, επίσης, για το ενδεχόμενο μετατροπής της λεωφόρου Μακεδονίας σε δρόμο διπλής κατεύθυνσης τεσσάρων λωρίδων. Απαντώντας στις ανησυχίες αυτές, λειτουργός του Τμήματος Πολεδομίας, ανέφερε ότι για την αίτηση που υποβλήθηκε το 2018 από τη Μονή Κύκκου για διαίρεση γης σε τέσσερα οικόπεδα και για masterplan με αναπτύξεις (οικιστικές, εμπορικές, αναψυχής κ.α.), τη εξέτασε, μεταξύ άλλων, και ο φορέας κυκλοφοριακών μελετών και ότι η παραχώρηση της άδειας το 2023 συνεπάγεται ειδικούς όρους. Όπως αναφέρθηκε, κατά την εξέταση των επιμέρους αιτήσεων για κάθε μία από τις αναπτύξεις για τις οποίες θα υποβληθεί αίτηση, θα εξεταστούν οι πτυχές υλοποίησής τους. Βασικός όρος, όμως, σύμφωνα με την Πολεοδομία, είναι η βελτίωση του οδικού δικτύου, παράλληλα με την ανάπτυξη των τεμαχίων. Πιο συγκεκριμένα, αναφέρθηκε ότι υπήρχε όρος για παραχώρηση γης από Μονή για τη διεύρυνση της οδού Γιάννου Κρανιδιώτη, ενώ η Πολεοδομία ανέφερε ότι για την οδό Μακεδονίας δεν υπάρχει σχεδιασμός για τέσσερις λωρίδες, καθώς αυτός ακυρώθηκε μετά από αντιδράσεις ήδη από το 2006. Αναφέρθηκε, αντίθετα, ότι η οδός Μακεδονίας θα έχει δύο λωρίδες, χωρίς νησίδα στη μέση, με ποδηλατόδρομο και μεγάλους πεζόδρομους. Κατά την τοποθέτησή του στην Επιτροπή ο Δήμαρχος Λευκωσίας, Χαράλαμπος Προύντζος, επιβεβαίωσε ότι οι υποδομές και τα έργα στους κύριους άξονες της περιοχής δεν έχουν ακολουθήσει τους ρυθμούς ανάπτυξης μέχρι σήμερα, προσθέτοντας ότι ο Δήμος, σε συνεργασία με Πολεοδομία έχει προχωρήσει σε ιεράρχηση προτεραιοτήτων για έργα που έπονται, ιδιαίτερα για τη δυτική Λευκωσία. Συγκεκριμένα, είπε ότι τα έργα στις Λεωφόρους Ηρώων και Λευκοθέου έχουν μπει σε προτεραιότητα για χρηματοδότηση. Σε ό,τι αφορά τις ανησυχίες για δρόμο τεσσάρων λωρίδων, είπε ότι ούτε η δημοτική αρχή επιθυμεί τέτοιο δρόμο, σημειώνοντας ότι δεν έχει ενώπιόν της τέτοιο σχεδιασμό, αν και στο τοπικό σχέδιο αναφερόταν ως τετραπλής κατεύθυνσης, κάτι που, όπως διευκρίνισε η Πολεοδομία, άλλαξε το 2006 μετά από αντιδράσεις. Ο κ. Προύντζος σημείωσε, πάντως, ότι το γεγονός πως δόθηκαν ήδη άδειες για αναπτύξεις στην περιοχή, δεν συνεπάγεται ότι δεν μπορούν να ακολουθήσουν και βελτιωτικές παρεμβάσεις, ώστε να αποφευχθεί η επιβάρυνση της κυκλοφορίας στην περιοχή. Σημείωσε, εξάλλου, ότι και οι παρεμβάσεις που έγιναν στους σχεδιασμούς για αξιοποίηση της έκτασης του χώρου της κρατικής έκθεσης με μετατροπή της σε μητροπολιτικό πάρκο, αποσκοπούν στην αποφυγή επιβάρυνσης. Ο Βουλευτής του ΕΛΑΜ και αναπληρωτής Πρόεδρος της Επιτροπής, Ανδρέας Παπαχαραλάμπους, επισήμανε στις δηλώσεις του ότι θα πρέπει να διασφαλιστεί η αρμονία της ανάπτυξης της περιοχής, των ανθρώπων και του περιβάλλοντος της περιοχής. Ο Βουλευτής του ΑΚΕΛ, Βαλεντίνος Φακοντής, υπογράμμισε τη σημασία για έμφαση στο κυκλοφοριακό, παράλληλα με ορθολογική ανάπτυξη και ενίσχυση των μέσων μαζικής μεταφοράς. Ο Βουλευτής του ΔΗΚΟ, Χρύσανθος Σαββίδης, εξέφρασε την άποψη ότι η αναπτυξιακή πορεία της περιοχής βρίσκεται σε σωστή κατεύθυνση. Η Βουλευτής του Κινήματος Άλμα, Ειρήνη Χαραλαμπίδου, επισήμανε ότι όταν εγκρίνονται άδειες για αναπτύξεις, θα πρέπει να διασφαλίζονται οι ισορροπίες και για το κυκλοφοριακό και για την ποιότητα ζωής των κατοίκων. Ο αρχηγός ενός κόμματος της ισραηλινής αντιπολίτευσης, ο Γιαΐρ Γκολάν ανακοίνωσε σήμερα ότι θα καταθέσει μήνυση κατά της Σάρα Νετανιάχου, συζύγου του Ισραηλινού πρωθυπουργού, αφού η τελευταία επανέλαβε μια θεωρία συνωμοσίας υπονοώντας ότι ο Γκολάν γνώριζε εκ των προτέρων για την επίθεση της Χαμάς στις 7 Οκτωβρίου 2023. Η υπόθεση καταδεικνύει την οξύτητα που περιβάλλει την προεκλογική εκστρατεία προς τις βουλευτικές εκλογές της 27ης Οκτωβρίου, σε μια χώρα βαθιά διχασμένη και τραυματισμένη από τη χειρότερη σφαγή που διαπράχθηκε ποτέ σε ισραηλινό έδαφος. DBRS Ratings GmbH (Morningstar DBRS) has changed the trend on both the Republic of Cyprus’ long-term and short-term foreign and local currency issuer ratings to ‘positive’ from ‘stable’ on the view that Cyprus will maintain its strong fiscal position and continue reducing its public debt burden.
