Εξ αφορμής δημοσιευμάτων και τοποθετήσεων μετά τη σύσκεψη που πραγματοποιήθηκε την περασμένη Παρασκευή ανάμεσα στους Υπουργούς Οικονομικών, Δικαιοσύνης και Δημοσίας Τάξεως, Υγείας και Εργασίας και Κοινωνικών Ασφαλίσεων αναφορικά με το ζήτημα των αδειών ασθενείας στον δημόσιο τομέα, είναι σημαντικό να διευκρινιστεί ότι η συντριπτική πλειοψηφία των δημοσίων υπαλλήλων δεν κάνει χρήση του συγκεκριμένου δικαιώματος. Συγκεκριμένα, στη βάση πραγματικών αριθμητικών δεδομένων, ποσοστό που ξεπερνά το 90% των δημοσίων υπαλλήλων δεν κάνει χρήση του δικαιώματος άδειας ασθενείας. Νοείται ότι η λήψη άδειας ασθενείας αποτελεί δικαίωμα του συνόλου των εργαζομένων, τόσο στον δημόσιο, όσο και στον ιδιωτικό τομέα, που κατοχυρώνεται από νομοθεσίες και κανονισμούς ακριβώς για να προστατεύονται οι εργαζόμενοι σε περίπτωση που για συγκεκριμένο χρονικό διάστημα καθίστανται ανίκανοι προς εργασία λόγω ασθένειας. Για την ΠΑΣΥΔΥ αποτελεί πρωταρχικό μέλημα η περιφρούρηση και προστασία των κατοχυρωμένων δικαιωμάτων και στην προκειμένη περίπτωση ιδιαίτερα για όσους εργαζόμενους εμπίπτουν στην κατηγορία των χρόνιων ασθενών, ώστε να διασφαλιστεί ότι δεν θα υπόκεινται στην όποια διάκριση ή δυσμενή μεταχείριση λόγω της ασθένειάς τους. Στις μεμονωμένες περιπτώσεις, όπου ενδεχομένως να παρατηρείται κατάχρηση ή εκμετάλλευση του δικαιώματος τούτου, θα πρέπει να ενεργοποιούνται τα κατάλληλα μέτρα για την καταστολή του φαινομένου. Οι κανονισμοί που διέπουν τη χορήγηση αδειών στη Δημόσια Υπηρεσία συμπεριλαμβανομένου και των αδειών ασθενείας εμπεριέχουν τις απαραίτητες πρόνοιες και ασφαλιστικές δικλείδες. Η εφαρμογή τους διασφαλίζει την αποτελεσματική αντιμετώπιση των μεμονωμένων περιπτώσεων, όπου παρατηρείται ότι συνάδελφοι χωρίς επαρκή αιτιολόγηση κάνουν κατά κόρον χρήση του εν λόγω δικαιώματος. Η ΠΑΣΥΔΥ δηλώνει την ετοιμότητά της για συνεργασία με την επίσημη πλευρά για αντιμετώπιση των ελάχιστων εκείνων περιπτώσεων που αποδεδειγμένα γίνεται κατάχρηση του εν λόγω δικαιώματος. Την ίδια στιγμή ξεκαθαρίζει ότι δεν θα ανεχθεί την όποια φαλκίδευση ενός κατοχυρωμένου και θεσμοθετημένου εργασιακού δικαιώματος για το σύνολο των εργαζομένων. Νέο ρόλο στην προστασία των κρίσιμων υποθαλάσσιων υποδομών της Ευρώπης αποκτά η Κύπρος, καθώς η Ευρωπαϊκή Επιτροπή ανακοίνωσε τη δημιουργία του πρώτου Περιφερειακού Κέντρου (Regional Cable Hub) για τη Μεσόγειο, με τη συμμετοχή της Κύπρου, της Ελλάδας, της Ιταλίας και της Μάλτας. Η πρωτοβουλία εντάσσεται στο ευρωπαϊκό Σχέδιο Δράσης για την Ασφάλεια των Υποθαλάσσιων Καλωδίων και αποσκοπεί στην ενίσχυση της προστασίας των καλωδίων δεδομένων και ενέργειας που αποτελούν κρίσιμες υποδομές για την Ευρώπη. Κοινή επιτήρηση και ανταλλαγή πληροφοριών Το Μεσογειακό Κέντρο θα λάβει χρηματοδότηση ύψους 3,3 εκατ. ευρώ και θα συνδυάζει κοινές διαδικασίες, δομές λήψης αποφάσεων και μια κοινή τεχνολογική πλατφόρμα που θα επιτρέπει σχεδόν σε πραγματικό χρόνο την ανταλλαγή πληροφοριών μεταξύ των συμμετεχόντων κρατών.
