Ο πρόεδρος των ΗΠΑ Ντόναλντ Τραμπ και οι ηγέτες της Γροιλανδίας και της Δανίας υπέγραψαν σήμερα στη Νέα Υόρκη τη συμφωνία που επιτρέπει μεγαλύτερη αμερικανική στρατιωτική παρουσία σε αυτό το νησί της Αρκτικής και μπορεί να επιλύσει την αντιπαράθεση μεταξύ Ουάσιγκτον και Κοπεγχάγης. Η συμφωνία δεν ικανοποιεί την επιδίωξη του Τραμπ να προσαρτήσει τη Γροιλανδία ως έδαφος των ΗΠΑ ή να την αγοράσει, με στόχο να περιοριστεί η παρουσία της Ρωσίας και της Κίνας στην Αρκτική. Επιτρέπει όμως στις ΗΠΑ να αναπτύξουν ισχυρότερες στρατιωτικές δυνάμεις. Παρόντες στην τελετή της υπογραφής, εκτός του Τραμπ, ήταν η πρωθυπουργός της Δανίας Μέτε Φρεντέρικσεν και ο πρωθυπουργός της Γροιλανδίας Γενς-Φρέντερικ Νίλσεν. Η Φρεντέρικσεν έκανε λόγο για μια συμφωνία που μπορεί «να ισχύει για πάντα», σημειώνοντας ότι υπογραμμίζει τη σημασία της συμμαχίας του ΝΑΤΟ και σέβεται το δικαίωμα της Γροιλανδίας στην αυτοδιάθεση. «Είναι ζωτικής σημασίας να διατηρήσουμε ισχυρό το ΝΑΤΟ στην Αρκτική, όπου έχει σημαντικό ρόλο να διαδραματίσει», είπε από την πλευρά του ο πρωθυπουργός της Γροιλανδίας. Δύο νέες βάσεις προβλέπει η «συμφωνία χωρίς τέλος» Με βάση τη συμφωνία αυτή, που όπως είχε προαναγγείλει ο πρόεδρος Τραμπ, δεν προβλέπεται να έχει κάποιο «τέλος», οι ΗΠΑ θα επιτραπεί να ιδρύσουν δύο νέες στρατιωτικές βάσεις, στο Ναρσάρσουακ και το Μέστερσβιγκ της Γροιλανδίας ενώ παράλληλα μπορούν να εκσυγχρονίσουν και να επεκτείνουν τις δραστηριότητές τους στη Διαστημική Βάση του Πιτουφίκ. Στην περίπτωση που η Γροιλανδία αποκτήσει την ανεξαρτησία της, θα πρέπει να παραμείνει στο ΝΑΤΟ και να συνεχίσει να τηρεί την αμυντική συμφωνία. Καμία χώρα που δεν είναι μέλος του ΝΑΤΟ δεν θα επιτρέπεται να εγκαταστήσει δική της, επανδρωμένη ή μη, στρατιωτική εγκατάσταση στη Γροιλανδία. Επίσης, απαγορεύονται οι επενδύσεις στους «ευαίσθητους τομείς» από χώρες που δεν ανήκουν στο ΝΑΤΟ ή την Ευρωπαϊκή Ένωση, για λόγους ασφαλείας. Οι ΗΠΑ θα μπορούν να συμπεριλάβουν τη Γροιλανδία στον αμυντικό «Χρυσό Θόλο», ωστόσο τα «δικαιώματα πρόσβασής» τους το νησί θα πρέπει να ασκούνται κατά τρόπο που θα σέβεται την κοινωνία και τον τρόπο ζωής των κατοίκων. Η Δανία από την πλευρά της θα συνεχίσει να ενισχύει την αμυντική θωράκιση της Αρκτικής. Όλες οι πλευρές θα συνεργάζονται για να αποκρούουν απόπειρες κατασκοπείας στη Γροιλανδία. Την υπογραφή της συμφωνίας χαιρέτισε ο γενικός γραμματέας του ΝΑΤΟ Μαρκ Ρούτε, σημειώνοντας ότι ενισχύεται η συλλογική άμυνα και ότι η μεγαλύτερη ασφάλεια στην Αρκτική και τον Βόρειο Ατλαντικό είναι ουσιαστικής σημασίας τόσο για την Ευρώπη όσο και για τη Βόρεια Αμερική. Ως ένα ακόμη βήμα στην εμβάθυνση των σχέσεων Ελλάδας, Κύπρου, Αιγύπτου χαρακτήρισε ο Υπουργός Εθνικής Άμυνας της Ελλάδς, Νίκος Δένδιας, την τριμερή σύνοδο των Υπουργών Άμυνάς τους, που έγινε σήμερα στο Κάιρο. Σε δηλώσεις του μετά τη συνάντηση που είχε με τους ομολόγους του, ο Έλληνας Υπουργός Άμυνας τόνισε ότι η Αίγυπτος είναι ένας στρατηγικός και απαραίτητος σύμμαχος για την Ελλάδα και για την Κύπρο. «Εμείς οι Έλληνες, τις καλές μας σχέσεις με την Αίγυπτο, δεν τις συναρτάμε από τις σχέσεις με οποιοδήποτε άλλο κράτος, ούτε θεωρούμε τις σχέσεις μας με την Αίγυπτο ως στρεφόμενες κατά οιουδήποτε άλλου κράτους», τόνισε ο κ. Δένδιας. Πρόσθεσε ότι πρόκειται για σχέσεις οι οποίες αναλύονται και εξετάζονται στο πλαίσιο της αμοιβαίας ειλικρίνειας, της μόνιμης και διαρκούς αντίληψης σεβασμού στο διεθνές δίκαιο και στο Διεθνές Δίκαιο της Θάλασσας και στο πλαίσιο των συμφωνιών που ήδη έχουν υπογραφεί με την Αίγυπτο, με κορυφαία την συμφωνία για την Αποκλειστική Οικονομική Ζών». Σημειώνεται ότι ο κ. Δένδιας είχε και διμερείς συναντήσεις με τους Υπουργούς Άμυνας της Κύπρου και της Αιγύπτου. Κατά τη συνάντηση με τον Υπουργό Άμυνας και Στρατιωτικής Παραγωγής της Αραβικής Δημοκρατίας της Αιγύπτου συζητήθηκαν η περαιτέρω ενίσχυση της στρατηγικής αμυντικής σχέσης των δύο κρατών και οι προκλήσεις ασφαλείας στην Ανατολική Μεσόγειο και την ευρύτερη περιοχή, ενώ κατά τη συνάντηση με τον Υπουργό Άμυνας της Κύπρου συζητήθηκε η περαιτέρω εμβάθυνση των διμερών αμυντικών σχέσεων.
