Σύμφωνα με τον κ. Ιωάννου, το έργο που εγκαινιάστηκε σήμερα αποτελεί μέρος ενός ευρύτερου σχεδιασμού για την αναβάθμιση του δημόσιου χώρου της Κοινότητας, τη βελτίωση της καθημερινότητας των κατοίκων και τη δημιουργία νέων δυνατοτήτων για την οικονομική, κοινωνική και τουριστική ανάπτυξη του Ζυγίου. «Το έργο, με συνολικό κόστος που ξεπερνά τα €1,7 εκατομμύρια, αποτελεί μια ολοκληρωμένη παρέμβαση στο παραλιακό μέτωπο του Ζυγίου, με βελτίωση του οδικού δικτύου, αναβάθμιση πεζοδρομίων και δημόσιων χώρων, δημιουργία χώρων πρασίνου, σύγχρονο αστικό εξοπλισμό και φωτισμό, καθώς και τις απαραίτητες τεχνικές υποδομές», είπε. «Πέρα, όμως, από τα τεχνικά χαρακτηριστικά του, το έργο έχει ευρύτερη σημασία, αφού στοχεύει στη δημιουργία χώρων συνάντησης και δραστηριοποίησης των ανθρώπων, συμβάλλοντας στη βελτίωση της καθημερινότητάς τους. Την ίδια ώρα, ενισχύει την ελκυστικότητα και την επισκεψιμότητα της Κοινότητας, προς όφελος της επιχειρηματικής και οικονομικής της ανάπτυξης», εξήγησε ακολούθως. Σύμφωνα με τον κ. Ιωάννου, η ολοκλήρωση της πρώτης φάσης του έργου αποτελεί ένα σημαντικό ορόσημο στον ευρύτερο σχεδιασμό για την αναβάθμιση του παραλιακού μετώπου και του πυρήνα του Ζυγίου, προσθέτοντας ότι ο σχεδιασμός αυτός συνεχίζεται, με τη δεύτερη φάση να βρίσκεται ήδη σε στάδιο υλοποίησης, με το συμβατικό κόστος της να ανέρχεται σχεδόν στα €2 εκατομμύρια, με συγχρηματοδότηση από ευρωπαϊκά κονδύλια, στο πλαίσιο του Στρατηγικού Σχεδίου Κοινής Αγροτικής Πολιτικής 2023-2027, που αφορά έργα υποδομών στις αγροτικές περιοχές και ανάπλαση χωριών και με τη στήριξη της Διεύθυνσης Ευρωπαϊκών Ταμείων του Υπουργείου Εσωτερικών. «Η Κυβέρνηση Χριστοδουλίδη αντιμετωπίζει την ανάπτυξη και την πρόοδο των Κοινοτήτων ως αναπόσπαστο μέρος της συνολικής αναπτυξιακής στρατηγικής του Κράτους. Η ανάπτυξη μιας χώρας, για να είναι ισόρροπη, πρέπει να αφορά όλες τις περιοχές με δίκαιο και ισότιμο τρόπο. Στόχος μας είναι να εφαρμόζουμε πολιτικές και μέτρα που να δημιουργούν τις προϋποθέσεις, ώστε όλοι οι πολίτες να μπορούν να ζουν, να εργάζονται, να δημιουργούν οικογένεια και να επενδύουν στον τόπο τους, χωρίς αποκλεισμούς και περιορισμούς», ανέφερε ο κ. Ιωάννου. Ο Υπουργός Εσωτερικών προσέθεσε ότι αυτό προϋποθέτει την ανάπτυξη υποδομών, την υλοποίηση έργων, την παροχή των αναγκαίων υπηρεσιών, αλλά και τη δημιουργία δυνατοτήτων οικονομικής και επιχειρηματικής δραστηριοποίησης, και πρωτίστως, τη δημιουργία προοπτικών συγκράτησης του υφιστάμενου πληθυσμού και προσέλκυσης νέων κατοίκων, μέσα από τη δημιουργία επιλογών στέγασης για τους νέους, τις οικογένειες και τους εργαζόμενους. «Έχοντας θέσει το στεγαστικό ψηλά στις προτεραιότητές μας, αναπτύσσουμε στεγαστικά προγράμματα που ανταποκρίνονται στις ανάγκες διαφορετικών ομάδων του πληθυσμού και δίνουν ουσιαστικές λύσεις. Την ίδια ώρα, οι πολιτικές αυτές συμβάλλουν στην αναζωογόνηση και την αναβίωση της υπαίθρου», συνέχισε Πιο συγκεκριμένα, ανέφερε ότι υλοποιείται το Στεγαστικό Σχέδιο αναζωογόνησης περιοχών της υπαίθρου, στο οποίο εντάσσεται το Ζύγι, ενώ παράλληλα, ανακοινώθηκαν πρόσφατα δύο νέα μέτρα, τα οποία επιδιώκουν να ενισχύσουν την ύπαιθρο και να συμβάλουν στην αύξηση του πληθυσμού τους. Ειδικότερα, είπε ότι μέσα από το Σχέδιο Διάθεσης Οικοπέδων σε Οικογένειες στη βάση εισοδηματικών κριτηρίων, αξιοποιείται ένα σημαντικό δημόσιο περιουσιακό στοιχείο, την κρατική γη, η οποία παραχωρείται στο 25% της αγοραίας της αξίας, με στόχο τη στήριξη οικογενιειών που αντιμετωπίζουν δυσκολίες στην απόκτηση γης, δημιουργώντας, παράλληλα, νέες προοπτικές για τις Κοινότητες. Συμπλήρωσε ότι σε πρώτο στάδιο, θα διατεθούν το αμέσως επόμενο διάστημα 570 οικόπεδα σε κοινότητες παγκύπρια, μεταξύ των οποίων και εννέα στο Ζύγι. Εξίσου σημαντικό, σύμφωνα με τον Υπουργό, είναι και το Σχέδιο παραχώρησης του δικαιώματος ανέγερσης επιπρόσθετου ορόφου ή επέκτασης υφιστάμενης κατοικίας για τη στέγαση μελών της οικογένειας, το οποίο εφαρμόζεται παγκύπρια, σε πόλεις και Κοινότητες, εκφράζοντας την εκτίμηση ότι «θα δώσει σημαντικές ανάσες σε νέους και οικογένειες που επιθυμούν να αξιοποιήσουν την υφιστάμενη κατοικία της οικογένειάς τους και να καλύψουν τις δικές τους στεγαστικές ανάγκες». «Στο πλαίσιο της στοχευμένης στρατηγικής μας για την ανάπτυξη της υπαίθρου, όλες οι πολιτικές λειτουργούν συνδυαστικά και συμπληρωματικά η μια προς την άλλη. Ουσιαστική είναι, την ίδια ώρα, η συνεισφορά των αναπτυξιακών έργων που υλοποιούνται στα χωριά μας, για τη βελτίωση της καθημερινότητας των πολιτών και την κοινωνική και οικονομική ανάπτυξη των ίδιων των περιοχών», επεσήμανε σχετικά. «Το Ζύγι αποτελεί ένα χαρακτηριστικό παράδειγμα αυτής της ολοκληρωμένης προσέγγισης.
