Έντονη ήταν η παρουσία και δράση της Αστυνομίας το βράδυ που πέρασε, ανά το παγκύπριο, με τη διενέργεια οργανωμένων περιπολιών σε καίρια σημεία αστικών περιοχών, με στόχο την πρόληψη σοβαρών εγκληματικών ενεργειών, τη διασφάλιση της δημόσιας τάξης και την αύξηση του αισθήματος ασφάλειας του κοινού. Αποτέλεσμα των προληπτικών επιχειρήσεων αστυνόμευσης ήταν η σύλληψη τεσσάρων προσώπων για διάφορα αδικήματα, όπως για παράνομη κατοχή ναρκωτικών, και για παραβάσεις τροχαίας. Στο πλαίσιο των επιχειρήσεων αυτών, κατά τη διάρκεια της νύχτας, ανακόπηκαν για έλεγχο 570 οχήματα και ελέγχθηκαν 760 πρόσωπα που επέβαιναν σε αυτά. Διενεργήθηκαν παράλληλα 49 έλεγχοι υποστατικών, με στόχο την αντιμετώπιση φαινομένων παραβατικότητας, από τους οποίους προέκυψαν εφτά καταγγελίες. Κατά τη διάρκεια τροχονομικών ελέγχων που διενεργήθηκαν, έγιναν 351 καταγγελίες, που αφορούσαν διάφορες παραβάσεις τροχαίας, ενώ προέκυψαν και 13 διερευνώμενες υποθέσεις παραβάσεων τροχαίας. Οι επιχειρήσεις αστυνόμευσης, για πρόληψη και καταστολή του εγκλήματος, συνεχίζονται καθημερινά, με ενισχυμένη αστυνομική παρουσία, στοχευμένους ελέγχους και άμεση επιχειρησιακή δράση, με σκοπό την προστασία των πολιτών και τη διασφάλιση της δημόσιας τάξης.
