Δεν έχει γίνει επαρκής προετοιμασία ούτε για μια συνάντηση 2+1 μεταξύ των δύο ηγετών και του ΓΓ του ΟΗΕ, ούτε για μια συνάντηση 5+1 με τη συμμετοχή των εγγυητριών χωρών, ανέφερε το Σάββατο ο Τ/κ ηγέτης, Τουφάν Έρχιουρμαν λέγοντας πως στη Νέα Υόρκη δεν επιτεύχθηκε πρόοδος σε κανένα ζήτημα. Εξέφρασε ωστόσο ετοιμότητα για έξι από τα επτά σημεία που σκιαγράφησε ο ΓΓ πριν φύγει από την Κύπρο τον περασμένο Ιούλιο, λέγοντας πως η διαφωνία παραμένει σχετικά με το άνοιγμα νέων σημείων διέλευσης. Κάνοντας απολογισμό στο τουρκικό πρακτορείο ειδήσεων ΑΝΚΑ και τον Γιουσούφ Κανλί για τις επαφές του στην Νέα Υόρκη, ο κ. Έρχιουρμαν είπε ότι ο Πρόεδρος Χριστοδουλίδης έθεσε το αίτημα για συνάντηση 2+1 κατά τη συνάντησή του με τον ΓΓ του ΟΗΕ και το αίτημα αυτό του διαβιβάστηκε μέσω της Προσωπικής Απεσταλμένης, Μαρία Άγκελα Ολγκίν. Ο Τ/κ ηγέτης ανέφερε ότι ρώτησε (την κ. Ολγκίν) αν η ελληνοκυπριακή πλευρά είχε δεσμευτεί για ουσιαστική πρόοδο, αλλά δεν έλαβε θετική απάντηση. Επανέλαβε την αντίθεσή του στη διεξαγωγή συναντήσεων χωρίς βάση για πρόοδο, δεδομένου - όπως υποστήριξε - ότι η αξιολόγηση της κ. Ολγκίν ήταν επίσης αρνητική (ΣΣ: ως προς το αν έχει επιτευχθεί πρόοδος). «Η πρόθεση ήταν να δημιουργηθεί η εντύπωση ότι υπήρχε λόγος και βάση για μια τέτοια συνάντηση και εμείς την απορρίψαμε. Δεν πέσαμε σε αυτό το παιχνίδι. Ο ΓΓ και η Απεσταλμένη του είδαν ότι δεν υπήρχε πρόοδος, ούτε πρόθεση για πρόοδο. Δεν πραγματοποιούμε συναντήσεις για χάρη των συναντήσεων» συνέχισε. Ο κ. Έρχιουρμαν ανέφερε επίσης ότι στη Νέα Υόρκη, οι διαπραγματευτές και από τις δύο πλευρές, Μεχμέτ Ντάνα και Μενέλαος Μενελάου, συναντήθηκαν με την Αναπληρώτρια ΓΓ του ΟΗΕ Ρόζμαρι ΝτιΚάρλο και την κ. Ολγκίν, αλλά δεν σημειώθηκε πρόοδος σε κανένα θέμα κατά τη διάρκεια αυτών των επαφών. Για 2+1 και 5+1 Ο Τ/κ ηγέτης ανέφερε ότι η τ/κ πλευρά είναι ανοιχτή και στις δύο μορφές συναντήσεων 2+1 και 5+1, αλλά τόνισε ότι η προετοιμασία και η συγκεκριμένη πρόοδος στη Λευκωσία είναι απαραίτητες για να αποδώσουν αποτελέσματα αυτές οι συναντήσεις. Πρόσθεσε ότι ο κ. Γκουτέρες επιθυμεί πρόοδο στα ΜΟΕ, στην μέθοδο διαπραγμάτευσης και σε θέματα ουσίας πριν από τη σύγκληση νέας συνάντησης. Σημείωσε ότι μια μη προετοιμασμένη συνάντηση θα μπορούσε να οδηγήσει σε επανάληψη ανεπιτυχών διαδικασιών του παρελθόντος λέγοντας ότι πρέπει να ληφθούν υπόψη οι εμπειρίες από τη διαδικασία του Σχεδίου Ανάν του 2004 έως τις συνομιλίες στο Κραν Μοντάνα το 2017. ΜΟΕ Στο δημοσίευμα αναφέρεται ότι μεταξύ των ΜΟΕ που έθεσε ο ΓΓ του ΟΗΕ είναι το άνοιγμα νέων σημείων διέλευσης, η αποναρκοθέτηση, η δημιουργία κοινού μηχανισμού αντιμετώπισης καταστροφών, η συνεργασία στην καταπολέμηση της παράτυπης μετανάστευσης, η ανάπτυξη επαφών στον τομέα του αθλητισμού, η επίλυση ζητημάτων που σχετίζονται με την υπηκοότητα της ΕΕ των παιδιών που γεννιούνται από μικτούς γάμους και η λειτουργία της δομής της κοινωνίας των πολιτών. Ο Τουφάν Έρχιουρμαν ανέφερε ότι η τουρκοκυπριακή πλευρά είναι έτοιμη να καταλήξει σε συμφωνία σε έξι από αυτά τα σημεία, αλλά η διαφωνία συνεχίζεται σχετικά με το άνοιγμα νέων σημείων διέλευσης. Η διαφωνία στα σημεία διέλευσης, είπε, επικεντρώνεται στην όδευση και στο εάν οι προτάσεις θα εξεταστούν από κοινού.
