Economic sentiment in Cyprus improved for the third consecutive month, rising marginally in June, on improved business and consumer confidence, according to the benchmark index compiled by the Economics Research Centre of the University of Cyprus. The June Economic Sentiment Indicator (ESI-CypERC) increased by 0.2 points to 100.8 points compared with 100.6 in May, driven by stronger business confidence in the retail trade and construction sectors, alongside further gains in consumer confidence. Στη «διοίκηση» τ/κ «ειρηνευτικών δυνάμεων» - του τουρκικού στρατού κατοχής – έχει μισθωθεί για 30 χρόνια η παραλία απόβασης του 1974, δηλαδή το Πέντε Μίλι κοντά στην Κερύνεια, από την διοίκηση των βακουφίων του ψευδοκράτους, με στόχο τη διατήρηση του «ιστορικού της χαρακτήρα και τη μετατροπή της σε υπαίθριο μουσείο προς τιμήν της επιχείρησης στην Κύπρο στις 20 Ιουλίου 1974». Όπως μεταδίδεται στα κατεχόμενα, τ/κ ΜΜΕ αναφέρει ότι ανακοίνωση των βακουφίων προσθέτει ότι αυτό έγινε μετά από «αμοιβαία διαβούλευση και συντονισμό» και το διοικητικό συμβούλιο των βακουφίων έλαβε την απόφαση βάσει της πρότασης του γενικού του διευθυντή, Μουσταφά Τουμέρ. Η διοίκηση Βακουφίων αναφέρει ότι η «παραλία απόβασης» δεν μπορεί να θεωρηθεί απλώς μια παράλια περιοχή με εμπορικές δραστηριότητες. «Πρόκειται για μια ιστορική και πνευματικά σημαντική περιοχή που κατέχει μια μοναδική θέση στη συλλογική μνήμη του έθνους μας, διατηρώντας την ιερή μνήμη των μαρτύρων μας, καθώς ήταν το πρώτο σημείο απόβασης της Ειρηνευτικής Επιχείρησης στην Κύπρο στις 20 Ιουλίου 1974». Αναφέρεται επίσης ότι η εξουσία λήψης αποφάσεων σχετικά με τη μίσθωση, τη χρήση και άλλες διατάξεις της εν λόγω περιουσίας δηλαδή της παραλίας, ανήκει στη διοίκηση βακουφίων στο πλαίσιο της ισχύουσας «νομοθεσίας», προσθέτοντας ότι η διαδικασία μίσθωσης διεξήχθη εξ ολοκλήρου εντός της «νόμιμης εξουσίας» και δεν υπάρχει καμία αλλαγή στην ιδιοκτησία. «Η προαναφερθείσα διαδικασία μίσθωσης δεν οδηγεί σε καμία αλλαγή στην ιδιοκτησία του ακινήτου και η φύση του ως περιουσίας του ιδρύματος διατηρείται ακριβώς όπως είναι», σημειώνεται. Η διοίκηση των βακουφίων καταλήγει ότι σε αντίθεση με την αντίληψη που επιχειρείται να δημιουργηθεί, η διαδικασία δεν βασίζεται στη μονομερή αξιολόγηση οποιουδήποτε ατόμου ή ιδρύματος. «Βασίζεται σε μια θεσμική διαδικασία που διεξάγεται σύμφωνα με την αμοιβαία διαβούλευση, τον συντονισμό και τις επίσημες αξιολογήσεις των αρμόδιων κρατικών θεσμών. Αυτή η περιοχή θα πρέπει να διατηρηθεί ως τόπος μνήμης που θα μεταφέρει τη θυσία των μαρτύρων μας, τον αγώνα για την ύπαρξη των Τουρκοκυπρίων και το πνεύμα της 20ής Ιουλίου 1974 στις μελλοντικές γενιές», υποστηρίζει.
