Νέο πλαίσιο συνεργασίας Ενδεικτικό της στρατηγικής πυκνότητας που αποκτά η σχέση των δύο πλευρών είναι ότι η επίσκεψη του Αιγύπτιου υπουργού Άμυνας, αντιστράτηγου Ασράφ Σάλεμ Ζάχερ, στην Άγκυρα συνοδεύτηκε από την υπογραφή δύο ξεχωριστών επιστολών προθέσεων, οι οποίες θεμελιώνουν νέο πλαίσιο στρατιωτικής και αμυντικο-βιομηχανικής συνεργασίας. Κάθε νέα ερμηνεία διατάξεων της UNCLOS ή κάθε απόφαση διεθνούς δικαιοδοτικού οργάνου θα μπορούσε να αποκτήσει ευρύτερη σημασία και να χρησιμοποιηθεί ως προηγούμενο σε άλλες θαλάσσιες διαφορές, μεταξύ αυτών και στις ελληνοτουρκικές αντιπαραθέσεις στο Αιγαίο. Η τουρκική διπλωματία διευρύνει τον ορίζοντά της Η Άγκυρα αντιμετωπίζει πλέον τις θαλάσσιες διαφορές ως μέρος ενός παγκόσμιου νομικού ανταγωνισμού και όχι ως απομονωμένες περιφερειακές υποθέσεις. Η τουρκική ανάγνωση αποκαλύπτει μια στρατηγική που επιχειρεί να παρακολουθεί, να αναλύει και, ει δυνατόν, να αξιοποιεί κάθε διεθνή εξέλιξη που θα μπορούσε να επηρεάσει μελλοντικά την τουρκική επιχειρηματολογία για το Αιγαίο και την Ανατολική Μεσόγειο. Economic sentiment in Cyprus improved for the third consecutive month, rising marginally in June, on improved business and consumer confidence, according to the benchmark index compiled by the Economics Research Centre of the University of Cyprus.
