Χρίστου, επισημαίνοντας ότι «τα τραγικά λάθη της εσωτερικής σύγκρουσης είχαν βαρύτατες συνέπειες που μας στοιχειώνουν ακόμη» και ότι «η διχόνοια άνοιξε το δρόμο σε γεγονότα που καθόρισαν την πορεία της χώρας μας μέχρι αυτή την ώρα». Ανέφερε, άλλωστε, ότι «οι προθέσεις και τα σχέδια της Τουρκίας όσον αφορά την Κύπρο τέθηκαν σε εφαρμογή από την περίοδο της τουρκοανταρσίας του 1963, που είχε σαν αποτέλεσμα την αποχώρηση των Τουρκοκυπρίων από τα θεσμικά όργανα της Κυπριακής Δημοκρατίας». Χρίστου, προσθέτοντας ότι «η εμπειρία δείχνει ότι η επιμονή για λύση βασισμένη στη Διζωνική Δικοινοτική Ομοσπονδία μας οδηγεί πλησιέστερα στο να αποδεχτούμε τουρκικές αξιώσεις και μας απομακρύνει από μια δίκαιη λύση η οποία θα διασφαλίζει την επιβίωση των Ελλήνων της Κύπρου». Συνέχισε λέγοντας ότι «στην πράξη Διζωνική Δικοινοτική Ομοσπονδία με πολιτική ισότητα σημαίνει πρώτον ότι έχουμε κράτος και θα το καταργήσουμε, έχουμε κυριαρχία και θα την περιορίσουμε, έχουμε διεθνή εκπροσώπηση και θα την αποποιηθούμε, και τέλος έχουμε συμμαχίες και θα τις διαγράψουμε». Πρόσθεσε ότι αυτό θα οδηγήσει στο «να πετύχουμε πρώτον την νομιμοποίηση του ψευδοκράτους, δεύτερον τη διαγραφή εγκλημάτων πολέμου, τρίτον την παραμονή των εποίκων, τέταρτον το διαμοιρασμό της εξουσίας με τους εγκάθετους της Άγκυρας», σημειώνοντας ότι «αυτό θα γίνει την ίδια ώρα που η Τουρκία συνεχίζει τις προκλητικές ενέργειες στην πράσινη γραμμή, σχεδιάζει γαλάζιες πατρίδες, εφαρμόζει αναθεωρητική πολιτική σε βάρος γειτονικών κρατών, έχει συνδέσει όλα τα ερευνητικά ιδρύματα της χώρας με την ανάπτυξη της πολεμικής βιομηχανίας και κλιμακώνει την ένταση με το κράτος του Ισραήλ». «Τα παραπάνω δεδομένα καθιστούν επιτακτική την ανάγκη και την επανεξέταση της πορείας λύσης του Κυπριακού εκ μέρους της Πολιτείας», ανέφερε ο κ. Το περιστατικό έγινε γνωστό μέσα από φωτογραφίες που δημοσιεύθηκαν στην ομάδα Cyprus and East Med Sea Life. Το ρινοδέλφινο είναι από τα μεγαλύτερα είδη δελφινιών της Μεσογείου, με μήκος που μπορεί να φθάσει τα τέσσερα μέτρα και βάρος έως περίπου 500 κιλά. Ξεχωρίζει από το χαρακτηριστικό κοντό «ρύγχος» του και το γκρι χρώμα του, ενώ σε αντίθεση με άλλα είδη προτιμά τις παράκτιες περιοχές, γεγονός που το καθιστά συχνά ορατό από την ακτή ή σε μικρή απόσταση από αυτή.
