Το Ιράν είχε ανακοινώσει νωρίτερα σήμερα το κλείσιμο «μέχρι νεωτέρας» των στενών, αφού άνοιξε πυρ εναντίον ενός πλοίου που ακολουθούσε, σύμφωνα με την Τεχεράνη, «μη εγκεκριμένη πορεία». Η Τεχεράνη επιτρέπει τη διέλευση μόνον από ένα διάδρομο ναυσιπλοΐας κατά μήκος των ακτών του και αποκλείει κάθε επιστροφή στην κατάσταση προ του πολέμου, όταν η διέλευση ήταν δωρεάν, κάτι στο οποίο οι Ηνωμένες Πολιτείες αντιδρούν. Economic sentiment in Cyprus improved for the third consecutive month, rising marginally in June, on improved business and consumer confidence, according to the benchmark index compiled by the Economics Research Centre of the University of Cyprus.
