Διαβάζοντας, υπό συνεχή χειροκρότημα των παρευρισκομένων, τα ονόματα των 13 ηρώων, ο κ. Αρμεύτης διεμήνυσε πως αποτελούν αναπόσπαστο μέρος της σύγχρονης ιστορίας της πατρίδας μας. «Πίσω, όμως, από κάθε όνομα υπήρχε ένας άνθρωπος. Ένας γιος, ένας πατέρας, ένας σύζυγος, ένας αδελφός, ένας φίλος. Άνθρωποι με όνειρα, σχέδια και μια ολόκληρη ζωή μπροστά τους», συνέχισε και υπέδειξε πως η θυσία τους δεν μπορεί να αποτιμηθεί μόνο με όρους ηρωισμού. Η θυσία τους «μάς υπενθυμίζει διαρκώς την ανεκτίμητη αξία της ανθρώπινης ζωής, αλλά και τη σημασία της ευθύνης, της πρόληψης και της λογοδοσίας», πρόσθεσε, και υπογράμμισε ότι ο πραγματικός φόρος τιμής προς τους ήρωες μας δεν εξαντλείται στην κατάθεση ενός στεφάνου ή σε μια ετήσια εκδήλωση μνήμης, αλλά εκφράζεται μέσα από τη διαρκή προσπάθεια να διασφαλίζουμε ότι τραγωδίες όπως αυτή δεν θα επαναληφθούν ποτέ. Λέγοντας πως η μνήμη δεν στρέφεται μόνο στο παρελθόν, σημείωσε πως φωτίζει και τον δρόμο προς το μέλλον και μας υπενθυμίζει ότι οι κοινωνίες προοδεύουν όταν έχουν το θάρρος να θυμούνται, να διδάσκονται από τα λάθη τους και να γίνονται καλύτερες. «Αυτό οφείλουμε στους δεκατρείς ήρωες, αυτό οφείλουμε στις οικογένειές τους, αυτό οφείλουμε στις επόμενες γενιές», είπε και εξέφρασε, εκ μέρους του Δήμου Λεμεσού και όλων των δημοτών, «τον βαθύ σεβασμό και την αιώνια ευγνωμοσύνη μας προς τους δεκατρείς πεσόντες και τη διαχρονική μας συμπαράσταση στις οικογένειές τους». Economic sentiment in Cyprus improved for the third consecutive month, rising marginally in June, on improved business and consumer confidence, according to the benchmark index compiled by the Economics Research Centre of the University of Cyprus. The June Economic Sentiment Indicator (ESI-CypERC) increased by 0.2 points to 100.8 points compared with 100.6 in May, driven by stronger business confidence in the retail trade and construction sectors, alongside further gains in consumer confidence.
